Warner Bros is out of ‘Goa’

It may do well to reiterate that Tamil cinema has its unique style of functioning, miles apart from how Hollywood does. Formalities, be it in terms of stringent story presentations or strict accounting constraints don’t find importance in Kollywood, where creators, besides good planning, do improvise and make on the spot decisions. Also, the call sheet procedures of Kollywood or even India are unique to the country and bear no similarity to the procedure followed in Hollywood.

And it seems like Warner Bros is not able to take the transition. The production house had originally inked a deal with Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Ocher Studios to jointly produce films, including Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Goa’.

And they had insisted on sticking to the Hollywood style of operations, wanting all details about the films, from expenses to script, presented upfront. But the ‘Goa’ team, which was racing against time to match the dates of all its actors, including a Hollywood actress, had not been able to stick to this deadline, though shooting has been going as per schedule in Theni. Both the production houses understood the difficulties and so Warner Bros have chosen to opt out, it seems to be on the grounds of mutual understanding either ways. The movie is now being produced by Ocher Studios alone. Other films that they have planned with Ocher Studios will still be made together, sources close to the production houses say.
